How to become a Medicaid Provider

To participate in PCCM or the traditional Medicaid program providers must sign up with TMHP. Click here for Provider Enrollment information. To participate in the HMO STAR Medicaid program providers must sign up with the health plans in a specific service area. Each health plan has a provider relations department that can tell you what the specific criteria are to sign up as a provider. To see a list of current HMOs in the STAR program click here.

PCCM for Providers

On September 1, 2005, PCCM expanded to 197 additional Texas counties. Medicaid clients enrolled with PCCM will pick a health center, clinic, doctor, or specially trained nurse to become their primary care provider (PCP). They will be required to go to their PCP for most of their health care needs. Not everyone on Medicaid is required to enroll in PCCM.
