The mission of Texas HEART is to ensure that the Texas health care system meets all consumer's health care needs. Through its efforts to help consumers know about and receive the benefits to which they are entitled, Texas HEART is committed to ensuring that:


  • the health care system is responsive, fair and accountable to all consumers' health care needs;
  • consumers understand how to navigate the health care system;
  • consumers have access to reliable and unbiased sources of information about the health care system.
  
 
Philosophy

Texas HEART is committed to conducting health outreach to the chronically underserved as well as becoming recognized as a receptor site for multiple sources of assistance, including education, guidance, referral, and self-advocacy. Texas HEART will succeed through its growing credibility and influence, as evidenced by the expertise of its leadership and by the broad-based involvement of consumers.


 
Goals

  • To provide assistance, ombudsman, and mediation services to consumers accessing primary and long-term care health services.
  • To educate and inform providers of the needs and preferences of consumers with disabilities and chronic health conditions.
  • To educate and train consumers on securing needed health and human services.
  • To provide consultation to health care providers.
  • To organize and facilitate provider and consumer activities to improve the delivery of health and human services to Texas citizens.
